PHOENIX — Two horses were killed Tuesday morning after they ran into traffic in Scottsdale and were hit by two different cars.
The horses escaped a fenced yard and darted into the intersection of Scottsdale and 69th Street during the morning commute.
“The owners of the horses are obviously upset and are working with us to determine what happened,” said Scottsdale Police Sgt. Mark Clark.
The drivers and passengers of both vehicles were not injured in the crashes.
Traffic was backed up most of the morning while police investigated and removed the horses from the scene. They were removed about 11 a.m.
