Avondale PD: Officer shot in face, no life-threatening injuries

PHOENIX — According to a spokesperson with the Avondale Police Department, at around 4:50 p.m. MST Saturday, two officers made contact with a suspect at 3rd Street and East Rose Lane.
After the stop was made, one of the officers, as well as the suspect were shot.
The unidentified male officer, who was shot in the face, is currently resting at a nearby hospital. His injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.
The suspect, however, has been pronounced dead.
The incident remains under investigation and no other details are available at this time.
