Phoenix suburb selects new city attorney

GLENDALE, Ariz. — A former assistant city attorney for Glendale will now
serve as the city’s lead attorney.

Michael Bailey officially starts his position Wednesday after being
appointed by the Glendale City Council.

Bailey comes on after several city councilmembers asked then-City Attorney
Craig Tindall to resign in February, according to the Arizona Republic.

Tindall has since taken a position as general counsel for the Phoenix Coyotes.

Bailey, who worked seven years as city attorney for Surprise, was chosen from
three finalists.

Before his stint in Surprise, Bailey was assistant city attorney in Glendale
for five years. During that time, officials said he specialized in issues
involving land use, real estate and government contracts.
