PHOENIX — In an effort to conjoin old school wine tasting with the technology of today, an Arizona organization has released an interactive wine trail map, according to a recent press release.
The AZ Wine Map, a project from the Arizona Geological Survey, identifies more than 60 wineries, vineyards and tasting rooms in three of Arizona’s wine-growing regions: Sonoita, Willcox and the Verde Valley.
Not only does the map identifies where establishments are located, but it also provides the user with hours, location, website and accurate directions.
Debbie Johnson, director of the Arizona Office of Tourism, said the map will be used to “further promote” the wine experience throughout Arizona.
“Arizona’s wine experience is fast becoming one of our state’s most popular tourism assets and contributes more than $40 million dollars to the state’s economy,” she said in a press release.
Michael Conway with the Arizona Geological Survey said the map was created to serve the public, not promote irresponsible wine consumption.
“What we’re trying to do is assist the wine community here in Arizona, promoting their product,” he said.
