PHOENIX — If you’re planning on heading out to the lake this holiday weekend, an official suggested you be prepared by checking the weather forecast so you don’t end up stuck on the water if a storm rips through.
“See these things way in advance, prepare for them, get off the water before they hit and practice good mariner’s prudence,” said Arizona Game and Fish Director of Watercraft Law enforcement Kevin Bergersen.
If you’re on the water and see lightning then hear thunder about 30 seconds later, the cell is too close for comfort. Head to shore quickly, but not so quickly that the boat takes on water.
The forecast around Phoenix and surrounding areas does call for a 20-40 percent chance of rain.
