PHOENIX — A woman accused of trying to give away her baby to strangers
outside a Phoenix convenience store has been sentenced to two years of
Maricopa County prosecutors said 37-year-old Rozenna Luna was sentenced
Thursday. She pleaded guilty to one count of child abuse in July.
Phoenix police were called to the store near 23rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road on May 15 to check on Luna and her
Witnesses told officers that Luna was asking strangers if they wanted a free
Police said Luna allegedly had been drinking and smoking methamphetamine two
days before the incident.
They said she made no attempt to contact any safe haven locations, government
agencies or family members for help.
Luna’s child was in state custody after her arrest, but has since been returned
to the child’s father.
