TUCSON, Ariz. — A man has been convicted of first-degree murder in a 2011
shooting in a Tucson parking lot.
Juan Carlos Gil was accused of killing 35-year-old Francisco Antonio Gastelo
after a University of Arizona football game.
The Arizona Daily Star reports that a Pima County
Superior Court jury found the 26-year-old Gil guilty on Wednesday. Jurors got
the case on Tuesday.
According to testimony, two men approached and shot Gastelo. One then left in a
pickup while the other drove away in Gastelo’s car, which was later found
Prosecutor Julie Sottosanti says evidence against Gil included his DNA on the
murder weapon and the truck.
