PHOENIX — Arizona Department of Public Safety and Phoenix Police arrested a man Friday who was hiding in a porta-potty. Officers said the man was involved in several accidents in Phoenix.
The Department of Public Safety said the first accident the man caused was near Interstate-17 and Bell Road.
“When our officers were responding the suspect vehicle fled that scene and actually caused two other accidents,” said DPS officer Carrick Cook.
The man took the frontage road for I-17 from Bell Road to Union Hills and crashed into a commercial building. Phoenix police helicopter, officers, and K-9s as well as DPS officers searched for the man within the commercial complex he crashed into.
“We were actually able to find the suspect, the driver in this case, hiding in a porta-potty in one of the yards of one of those commercial businesses,” Cook said.
The man surrendered from within the porta-potty. Cook said he believes the man gave up without a fight due to the threat of police dogs.
