PHOENIX — A Mesa man who called police for help is instead in custody on suspicion of child endangerment, accused of setting a toddler on an upper-window ledge.
Marco A. Carillo, 31, originally called police to tell them he had been poisoned by a dart.
When officers arrived at 1432 E. Knoll Circle Unit 2, Carillo refused to answer the door but continued shouting for help.
Eventually, Carillo tried to leave through an upper window while holding the toddler. Police broke in through a rear door and were able to take the child, unharmed.
He was taken to a local hospital as a precaution before he was booked and jailed.
Child Protective Services took custody of the child.
