TEMPE, Ariz. — A witness saw a car belonging to a missing 19-year-old
Tempe college student driving erratically on the morning the woman disappeared,
but authorities have developed few leads since she vanished last month,
according to newly released records in the case.
Adrienne Salinas was last seen by her roommates leaving their Tempe apartment
in the early morning hours of June 15. According to the Tempe Police Department
report released this week, she packed a bag and told them she was headed to her
boyfriend’s home in Scottsdale.
The boyfriend showed investigators he had 11 missed calls from Salinas around
4:15 a.m. the morning she vanished, along with a text message that indicated she
was on her way to his home, according to the report. The boyfriend said she
The next day, police found Salinas’ white 2002 Mercury Sable about a block from
her apartment. The doors were locked, the overnight bag she packed was gone, and
there were no signs of a struggle.
The car had front-end damage and two flat tires.
The police report said a woman told authorities she saw a similar car at about
3:40 a.m. the morning Salinas vanished speeding and moving erratically before it
crashed into a curb, blowing out two tires. She said she pulled over and
attempted to approach the vehicle, but the driver sped off.
Salinas’ father reported her missing on June 16.
“They were concerned because she never missed calling her father on Father’s
Day or any other holiday because they maintained a close relationship,” the
Roommates told police Salinas “had never left the house without telling
someone where she was going, leaving instructions to care for her dog or without
notifying someone shortly after or returning home.”

Authorities say records show Salinas called for taxi from her cell phone at
about 5:05 a.m. on June 15, but the arriving driver never found her, and her
phone was soon turned off.
Searches of nearby Tempe Town Lake turned up no evidence of the missing woman
or any of her belongings.
Salinas was last seen wearing a black blouse and dark colored jeans. She is 5
feet 6 inches tall, weighing about 110 pounds, with black hair.
Her family plans a vigil on Saturday at Jaycee Park in Tempe.
