KINGMAN, Ariz. — Mohave County authorities said they’re concerned about the
possibility of damaging runoff from the Dean Peak Fire in mountains outside
The fire still smoldering in the Hualapai Mountains is 90 percent contained,
and the Sheriff’s Office said concern now largely focuses on potential flash
flooding that is common when a wildfire burns off vegetation.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Don Bischoff said agencies are preparing a response plan for
Thunderstorm in the area is forecast to increase this week.
Hundreds of homes were evacuated but residents have been allowed to return to
the affected neighborhoods.
