TUCSON, Ariz. — A Tucson man has been sentenced to life in prison after
being convicted of first-degree murder for the second time.
Pima County prosecutors say 21-year-old Mario Ramon-Antonio Acedo was sentenced
Wednesday. He will be eligible for parole after serving 25 years.
Acedo was charged in the shooting death of Christopher Montano during a
drug-related robbery in August 2010.
A judge granted Acedo a second trial after learning a few jurors walking to a
downtown restaurant were flashed some sort of hand signals by a group driving by
in an attempt to intimidate them.
The Arizona Daily Star says attorneys learned a juror
wrote a letter instructing people to contact the judge if something happened to
Acedo was convicted again in February.
