Police: Scottsdale chef accused of drug possession

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Trouble may be brewing for a well-known chef in the
Phoenix metropolitan area.

Scottsdale police say Eddie Matney has been arrested for alleged drug
possession and driving on a suspended license.

Police say an officer pulled Matney over on May 20 because of a partially
obscured license plate.

They say a subsequent check showed Matney’s registration and driving privileges
had been suspended.

While waiting for a tow truck, police officers say they found marijuana in
Matney’s vehicle.

In a statement Tuesday night, Matney says he was pulled over for a traffic
infraction and “a very small amount of marijuana was found with fishing

He declined further comment except for “apologizing for the distraction this
has caused.”

Matney is the owner of Eddie’s House restaurant in Scottsdale.
