MOUNTAINAIRE, Ariz. — Authorities say two people have died in a small
plane crash south of Flagstaff.
Coconino County sheriff’s spokesman Gerry Blair says no one else was on board
the single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza. The plane crashed just before noon
Tuesday, sparking a quarter-acre fire that quickly was suppressed.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says preliminary
information indicates the plane left Flagstaff Pulliam Airport just before noon
Tuesday. He says the plane had trouble gaining altitude before crashing about
three miles southeast of the airport in the community of Mountainaire.
Gregor says the destination had been Tuba City on the Navajo Nation.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
