‘Charita-bowl:’ Fiesta Bowl Charities gives $1.5 million to Arizona non-profits

Oct 29, 2015, 6:00 AM

PHOENIX — Dozens of Arizona non-profits are being honored after receiving grants from the Fiesta Bowl Charities.

In the summer of 2015, the Fiesta Bowl Charities pledged a total of $1.5 million in grants to more than 50 local organizations.

“(The money is) given to charities across the state all over the board everything from Boys and Girls Clubs, Big Brothers, Big Sisters, Saint Mary’s, Mothers Against Drunk driving, Treasures for Teachers, Playworks, we got it all,” Jose Moreno, director of community relations and charitable giving at Fiesta Bowl Charities said.

The grant total given this year is the most ever donated by the Fiesta Bowl Charities. Moreno said their commitment to bettering the community grows every year.

“Yes, we do the games, we have parades, we’ve got amazing events, but we want people to know we are a non-profit ourselves,” he said, “We are a very philanthropic organization and we are serving the community and giving back.”

We want to hear from you.
