An April drug take-back event in Arizona brought in 6.5 tons of prescription drugs, the Drug Enforcement Agency said in a release.
Over 95 locations manned by over 60 law enforcement agencies participated in the take-back on April 27. The official total was 13,069 pounds of unwanted or expired medications.
“We are pleased at the response of our communities once again, and we thank them for participating and contributing to the battle against prescription drug abuse,” said DEA Special Agent in Charge Doug Coleman.
In six total take-back events, the DEA has taken over 24 tons of prescription drugs out of circulation.
