Police say crowd swarmed bondsmen before shooting

PHOENIX — Police said as two bail bondsmen started to leave
a Phoenix apartment complex after taking a man into custody, they were swarmed
by a crowd while the man yelled for someone to shoot them.

Thirty-seven-year-old David Brickert and 39-year-old Wesley Kampen from
Sanctuary Bail Bonds died at the scene Monday night.

Authorities said the bondsmen had taken into custody 25-year-old Anthony Brian
Giunta after he didn’t show up for a hearing on weapons and drug charges.

Phoenix police said in a probable cause statement that 23-year-old Nicholas
Malicki emerged from the crowd and fatally shot both bail bondsmen.

Giunta escaped but was arrested a few hours later.

Authorities said Malicki is held on suspicion of two counts of first-degree

Malicki has denied the charges and claims he is being framed.
