Overnight collision kills 1 in Phoenix

PHOENIX — An overnight car accident has killed one and injured another at 35th Avenue and McDowell Road.
The intersection remains closed Tuesday morning. The accident occurred around 12:30 a.m.
Police said a car traveling west on McDowell ran a red light and hit a truck southbound on 35th Avenue, causing the truck to spin, then hit a third car. The driver of the truck, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was ejected and killed. The driver of the third car, a pregnant woman, was strapped in but taken to a local hospital. She and the baby are in good condition.
The driver of the westbound car was not wearing a seat belt and also was taken to a local hospital, suffering from serious injuries.
