PHOENIX — The Supreme Court takes up the issue of gay marriage again Wednesday and Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton called this an “incredibly important day for civil and human rights in America.”
Stanton said Phoenix has been in the forefront of this issue by having domestic partner benefits and the recently passed human rights ordinance. He supports marriage equality and believes the nation is ready to embrace it.
“We have learned through our history, the arc of justice bends toward justice, it just takes time. It will bend that way with the Supreme Court decision,” he said.
The Supreme Court isn’t expected to rule on gay marriage until the end of June.
