PHOENIX — “Star Wars” fans, prepare yourselves: Three Phoenix theaters will host a seven-film marathon to mark the release of “The Force Awakens.”

AMC’s Westgate Theater, near 91st and Glendale avenues, will host the film fest on Dec. 17. Fans will need to get there early, as the fun begins at 1 a.m. and continues all day until “The Force Awakens” is screened at 7 p.m.

The first six movies will be screened in 2D, while the latest film will be shown in 3D. They will be shown in order, beginning with “Episode I: The Phantom Menace” and finishing with “Episode Six: Return of the Jedi” before the latest addition to the “Star Wars” franchise hits the silver screen.

Tickets for the event went on sale Monday. They cost $65.51 each and include a special lanyard and stormtrooper pin. AMC Stubs members will receive $10 to spend at the theater during the massive screening.

Harkins Theaters will also host a marathon, though the times differ slightly: The first “Star Wars” film will be screened at 2:30 a.m. with “The Force Awakens” also being screened at 7 p.m.

Attendees at the Harkins event will receive a 2016 loyalty cup with two free refills, two small popcorns and a commemorative lanyard and badge. Tickets are $45.

The Harkins marathon will be held at Tempe Marketplace, near Rio Salado Parkway and the Loop 101, and Superstition Springs, near US 60 and Power Road.

If spending an estimated 21 hours in a movie theater isn’t for you, both AMC and Harkins have tickets available for the film’s premiere date.

The final trailer for the film debuted Monday to much fanfare. It has been viewed nearly 30 million times.

We want to hear from you.
