Main Street Minute: Coffee bar opens in Tempe neighborhood

KTAR’s Main Street Minute focuses on local businesses that are hiring, opening and hosting events across the community. These stories air each weekday on KTAR at 7:27 a.m.

• Folks can get a fresh cup of coffee and hear some tunes at a new spot in Tempe. Cortez Coffee Bar and Music opened up near Rural and Broadway roads. Hours are 8 a.m.-noon Monday through Saturday.

• A sixth Majerle’s Sports Grill has opened in the Valley, the latest in north Phoenix. The eatery took over a spot at Desert Ridge Marketplace once home to Wolfley’s Neighborhood Grill.

• A University of Arizona startup received a $225,000 federal grant to develop an anti-inflammatory drug. Botanisol will use the money from the National Institutes of Health to fully fund three stages of the drug’s development. It could be a possible replacement for drugs such as ibuprofen and aspirin.
