Simple mistake costing job hunters

PHOENIX — Employers are receiving dozens of applications for jobs and not all of them are memorable for the right reasons.
Theresa Maher with Jobing.Com said incomplete resumes and applications are common — missed words, improper grammar, etc. — but one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is job hunters not following directions.
“Once on board you may not follow directions in the actual position,” she said of why mistakes can easily disqualify an otherwise good candidate.
Maher said casting too wide of a net is also costing job hunters a potential paycheck.
“If you’re applying for positions that you’re clearly not qualified for or you’re not a good fit? That showcases that you’re not taking the job search seriously.”
The job market remains tight as the nation and states unemployment rate continues to hover around 8 percent.
