Arizona’s minimum wage will remain the same in 2016

Last week, the Industrial Commission of Arizona calculated that the minimum wage in the state of Arizona will remain at $8.05 in 2016.

In 2006, Arizona voters approved the Minimum Wage for Working Arizonans Act, which calibrates yearly changes to Arizona’s minimum wage to the cost of living.  Increases to Arizona’s minimum wage is also linked to the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers, a federal metric that increased by a scant 0.2 percent over the past year, leading to Arizona’s minimum wage remaining unchanged.

With the federal minimum wage coming in at $7.25, Arizona’s base hourly pay is 80 cents higher than the federal minimum.
