Stolen car leads to police chase north of Phoenix

BLACK CANYON CITY, Ariz. — Authorities chased a stolen car for nearly 20
miles before arresting a woman driver and her two passengers near Black Canyon

Phoenix police say the yellow coupe diverted off Interstate 17 to avoid spike
strips and took the Bumblebee exit Wednesday afternoon.

The car traveled along a two-lane dirt road until it slid off a dirt road.

The woman driver then exited the vehicle, followed by a male passenger and a
female passenger. They were ordered to the ground as police handcuffed them.

Police said the car was originally stolen around 4 p.m. near 19th Avenue and Mountain View. It was reported stolen on Tuesday in Tempe.

They say the stolen car hit several other vehicles before getting onto I-17 and
heading north out of the Phoenix area.

“I’m being told between four and six vehicles,” “Fortunately these were sideswipes…we had some side damage, mirror damage, things of that nature.”

Police say there was no report of any injuries.

It is unknown why the suspects fled.
