PHOENIX — Looking for a great way to get the most fright out of Halloween this year? Visit Tucson, Arizona, which was recently named one of the most haunted towns in the nation by Oyster.com.
The southern Arizona town is home to the All Souls Procession, a long-running tradition on Nov. 7 and 8 that celebrates and honors none other than the dead.
The event began in Arizona in 1990 and has grown to more than 100,000 participants today.
Participants in the All Souls Procession, which was inspired by the Mexican holiday Dia De Los Muertos, come together to create a two-mile long procession, ending with the burning of an urn filled with hopes, offerings and wishes for the dead.
This event is no joke: Those who put it on prepare up to six months in advance to make sure it delivers the best scares possible.
So if you’re looking to shake up your Halloween, ditch the candy bucket, throw some glitter on your face and head down to Tucson to honor the dead in the most alive way possible.
