Google fiber put on hold by Scottsdale City Council

The Scottsdale City Council delayed giving the go-ahead for Google fiber by taking the item off its meeting’s agenda this past week.

According to the Phoenix Business Journal, the item was removed by the request of city staff and is expected to reappear at the next council meeting scheduled for Oct. 20.

The Phoenix Business Journal reports the city’s staff wanted to meet with Cox Communications to get an idea of what brought on the company’s lawsuit against the city of Tempe regarding a deal with Google to provide a video services license.

In its lawsuit against Tempe, Cox Communications accuses Tempe of creating a new license category that violates state and federal law.
