Tucson schools take action against ‘confession’ pages

TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson school district officials are expressing concern and taking action against several of the high school’s so-called “confession” pages.

According to the Arizona Daily Star, the pages allow
students to post anonymously on Facebook.

The newspaper reported that many of the postings involve anti-gay remarks and sexually explicit comments about individual students.

Assistant superintendent Abel Morado said it’s a serious matter because
reputations are at stake and it’s hard for people to defend themselves.

Tucson High’s principal contacted Facebook to have a page for that school shut
down, and another principal planned to do the same.

Morado said the district will work with high school principals on a coordinated response.
