Flagstaff expected to get 4 to 8 inches of snow

PHOENIX — Another storm that’s headed into Arizona from the west is expected to dump between four to eight inches of snow on Flagstaff.

The National Weather Service said the rain that has fallen on the northern Arizona city since Friday was expected to start producing snow early Monday. The metropolitan Phoenix area has a 40 percent to 60 percent chance of showers from Sunday into Monday.

There’s a 60 percent chance of rain expected later Monday in metro Phoenix, but the weather was expected to clear up by Tuesday, with temperatures there expected to reach the low 70s by week’s end.

Arizona’s steady downpour on Saturday set records across the state. The 1.18 inches that fell at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport broke the previous record of .43 inches set for that day same day in 1985.

Tucson International Airport saw .71 inches of rain, breaking the record of .67 inches set on that day in 1985.

The rainfall record for that day at Flagstaff’s Pulliam Airport was broken Saturday with 1.5 inches. The previous record of .84 inch was set for that day in 1997.
