TUCSON, Ariz. — A Marana woman could face prison time after pleading
guilty to charges that she whipped and used handcuffs to lock her 14-year-old
stepson to a chair.
Sugey Guadalupe Santos-Cordova will be sentenced Feb. 22 by Judge Howard Fell
of Pima County Superior Court.
The Arizona Daily Star reported that she pleaded guilty
Wednesday to two counts of child abuse and one of kidnapping.
Her possible sentence ranges from probation with two years in jail to up to 20
years in prison.
Her husband, Federico J. Ballesteros II, was sentenced to six
months in jail and seven years’ probation after he pleaded guilty last June to kidnapping.
