Pima county: Attorney overbilled in Moody case

TUCSON — Pima County officials say a longtime Tucson defense attorney overbilled the county more than $75,000 for his work in the Robert Moody murder case.

The Arizona Daily Star reports that (http://bit.ly/TRvRAI) Richard Parrish has been ordered to account for all of the fees he charged in the Moody case and to show why he shouldn’t have to reimburse the county the money he’s been paid.

However, Parrish’s attorney, former Arizona State Supreme Court Judge Stanley Feldman, said Friday that Parrish’s billings were appropriate.

A hearing in the matter has been scheduled for Jan. 22 before Judge Richard Nichols, who is the presiding criminal judge for Pima County Superior Court.

Parrish provided appellate work for Moody, who was sentenced in 2010 to two life terms for the murders of two women.
