PHOENIX — An El Mirage man accused of fatally stabbing his father last
year has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Maricopa County prosecutors say 47-year-old Albert Rodriguez Arias entered his
plea Friday and will be sentenced Feb. 13.
Arias was arrested last April 5 on suspicion of first-degree murder and
originally pleaded not guilty in the case.
Police found 76-year-old Pete Arias bleeding from six stab wounds at his home
in El Mirage, located west of Phoenix. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Court records show Albert Arias told police that he was tired of being abused
by his father and he had “lost it” and stabbed him.
