The Arizona Department of Public Safety credits citizens with the help in the arrest of a 36-year-old man in connection to a road rage shooting along the Loop 101 Saturday.
DPS detectives arrested Christopher Hoffman on suspicion of drive by shooting, aggravated assault, discharge of a firearm in the city limits and possession of a dangerous drug.
Officials say Hoffman was involved in a shooting incident that took place along the Loop 101 near Bell Road in Peoria. DPS also said Hoffman admitted his involvement and evidence located by detectives directly links him to the shootings.
Police credits the assistance of witnesses and vigilant citizens as being key in locating Hoffman.
DPS said there is no evidence at this time that links Saturday’s shooting to any of the other shootings that have taken place along Interstate 10 since August.
Officials arrested Leslie Allen Merritt Jr. on Sept. 18 in connection of four of the 11 freeway shootings. Merritt, 21, pleaded guilty Thursday to 15 felony counts.
DPS is currently investigating the seven other unsolved incidents.
