Arizona Department of Public Safety officials are investigating an isolated road rage incident in which shots were fired from another vehicle Saturday afternoon.
According to DPS, the incident occurred along the Loop 101 and Bell Road when someone fired from one vehicle at another on the freeway in Peoria.
Raul Garcia of the DPS said that a tan pickup truck pulled up alongside of a dark grey vehicle and fired multiple shots for an unknown reason. Multiple rounds did strike the vehicle. No one was struck by the bullets or debris.
The driver’s side window shattered and the rear passenger window was completely shot out.
The tan truck then pulled behind the car and got off on the Bell exit. That is the last time DPS has seen the vehicle.
According to Garcia, the incident appears to be isolated and they are not ruling out a road rage incident.
Phoenix residents have been rattled by a series of random vehicle shootings on Interstate 10 between Aug. 22 and Sept. 10 involving bullets or projectiles. A Glendale man has been charged in four of the 11 shootings. The investigation into the other incidents remains open. Please call 602-223-2212 if you have any information.
