A majority of American citizens feel that a child born to a mother who is an illegal immigrant in the United States should not be a legalized citizen, a survey showed.
According to Rasmussen Reports, a record number of Americans — though still a minority — now believe those children should be citizens.
About 41 percent of Americans feel the children should be citizens and 51 percent oppose the idea.
The survey was taken of 1,000 likely voters and has a 95 percent level of confidence.
