SCOTTSDALE — A teenager arrested in connection with two rape cases in Scottsdale has now been charged as an adult.
The 16-year-old boy was arrested on Friday by Scottsdale police. The arrest came a week after a 22-year-old man surrendered to police because he looked like a composite sketch of the suspect in the case. He was later cleared by DNA tests.
Maricopa County Attorney’s spokesman Jerry Cobb says the 16-year-old was charged as an adult based on his age and the seriousness of the charges. He was transferred to the county jail Saturday evening.
Scottsdale police spokesman Sgt. Mark Clark says the teen was arrested after DNA tests linked him to both crimes and he was identified by one of the victims.
