A 59-year-old man who used a cell phone to call for help after being separated from his hunting party was found safe, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a release.
The man, identified only as R. Alvarez, was found in the desert west of Sasabe, Ariz., just a few miles from the border between the United States and Mexico.
Alvarez called 911 about 8 p.m. Thursday and was located by a helicopter about 8:30 p.m. He was found to be in good health and turned over to a Pima County Sheriff’s Office deputy who was on the scene.
