Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Jeff Flake has garnered support from some Phoenix Hispanic church leaders.
“Because of his track record and he has consistently been interested in finding a solution to the immigration and education problems that exist,” said Juan A. Ramos, senior pastor at Love International Ministries in Phoenix, explaining why some Hispanic leaders are backing Flake.
Ramos said there is a time and place for politics and that includes church.
“If you go back in the old days, you would always find a prophet and a king together,” he said. “Today, we have separated both things, but I think we can still do our part.”
Ramos said his congregation prays for all candidates and church leaders actively encourage their congregations to do research on the candidates and become familiar with the issues that affect them the most.
Ramos also encouraged the faithful to register to vote and is reminding them to hit the polls Nov. 6.
