Sleep in a cardboard box for charity

The San Francisco Giants’ road to the World Series started with spring training at Scottsdale Stadium, the same location where a charity group is inviting people to stay overnight in a cardboard box.
“Basically it’s a sleep-in-a-box event for the night on Oct. 26, starting at 5 p.m.,” said Ted Taylor, executive director of Family Promises of Greater Phoenix.
“Right in the center of Scottsdale Stadium, over 300 people are going to be sleeping in cardboard boxes.”
Taylor said the goal is to raise money and for about 3,800 homeless families in Arizona, and to raise awareness of the situation.
“A lot of people don’t know how homeless families exist, how they’re able to get shelter,” said Taylor. “The objective of this event is really to get the community involved in understanding the impact of homelessness on families.”
