PHOENIX – Eight Arizona mayors have formed a statewide partnership to try to improve education in the state.
The Arizona Mayors Education Roundtable is pledging to work with local school districts to get students ready for colleges and careers.
It’s chaired by Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton, who said there will be some candid conversations in the group.
“Every mayor’s going to have to look in the mirror and say ‘What more can we do as mayors to support education?'” Stanton said.
The mayors of Tucson, Mesa, Gilbert, Goodyear and Avondale are among those in the group that will meet once a quarter for talks on how to improve schools in Arizona.
