10 lasting memories from Denver debate

DENVER — Ten things News/Talk 92.3 reporter Jim Cross will remember about the first Obama-Romney presidential debate:
1. International perspectives on American politics from reporters I interviewed from Japan and Canada.
2. Interviewing former New York City Mayor Rudy Guiliani. Regardless of politics, he was a rock after Sept. 11.
3. How a university for 11,000 students could accommodate 3,000 journalists and countless political heavyweights in a way that would create awe in most major universities. That whole staff was incredible and nobody puts together a better media-care package.
4. Watching around 5,000 people sitting outside in 40- degree temperatures and a wind storm to watch the debate because they feel so passionately about the issues.
5. Seeing the Rocky Mountains for the first time in 20 years.
6. The storm.
7. People who tried to make a buck on Craigslist.
8. Being in the Spin Alley for the first time. Convinced the term “media circus” is a result of this.
9. The look in people’s eyes and the sound of their voice, no matter their party affiliation, just wanting the President or Mitt Romney to solve the economic challenges and put millions of Americans back to work.
10. How amazing the city of Denver is.
