Gilbert car chase ends with crash in Coolidge

“Officers saw the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop,” said Gilbert Police Lt. John Lyle.

After spotting police, the suspect fled from Gilbert, through Chandler, and ended up in Coolidge.

“Eventually, the pursuit ended in a single-vehicle collision,” said Lyle. “The vehicle that we were chasing had been reported stolen out of Casa Grande.”

Lyle said the suspect was flown from the scene to a local hospital by helicopter. He is expected to recover.

Police suspect alcohol was involved.
