A suspect has been arrested after allegedly abusing seven horses in Buckeye, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said.
The suspect, identified as Karie Hooks, is facing numerous charges, including two felonies.
One horse was seized from Hooks in July, who was informed how to properly care for the other animals.
During a follow up, MCSO found the seven horses were in worse condition than when deputies first saw them in July. The horses were estimated to be between 150 and 300 lbs. underweight and a veterinarian said all would require medical care.
