Do you cut off other drivers when you’re in a hurry? Chances are your kids are watching.
A study from Liberty Mutual Insurance found that children, at any age, take their driving cues from parents.
“From the time that your toddler is in the back seat and they’re monitoring what’s going on, they watch and they absorb from a very early age on,” said Michelle Donati with Triple-A of Arizona.
Donati said teens are the most observant, making them more susceptible to absorbing aggressive driving habits.
“Distracted driving, for example, speeding, aggressive driving, any of those traits can be absorbed by that teen,” she said.
In an effort to get kids and parents to discuss safe driving habits, Triple-A is offering a workshop called “Permit Prep 101.”
“Anything you do behind the wheel, you should be OK with your teen doing behind the wheel as well,” said Donati.
