Arizona marks 10 years of Amber Alerts

It has been 10 years since Arizona has implemented Amber Alerts, the statewide broadcast network designed to find abducted children.
Amber Alerts are broadcast on a cooperative network of media, law enforcement and the Arizona Department of Transportation to alert the public that a child has been abducted.
“This is a partnership-based system that relies on collaboration between the public and private sectors, as well as interest from members of the community” said Art Brooks, president and CEO of the Arizona Broadcasters Association, who chairs the Arizona AMBER Alert oversight committee. “Thankfully, Arizona has had a positive record in recovering abducted children – that’s a trend we expect to continue into the future.”
Over the past decade, 70 Amber Alerts have been issued. All of those were resolved with the child found safe, save for missing Glendale girl Jhessye Shockley, whose mother is being prosecuted for her murder.
