A Peoria elementary school was forced to go into a partial lockdown on Friday due to a police situation.
Two roommates got into a fight near 81st Ave. and Sweetwater and one refused to exit the residence, causing Oasis Elementary School to go on lockdown.
“In case that individual has a weapon on them, we just wanted to go ahead and keep the students at the school so that little kids aren’t walking by — because they are, of course, attracted to police cars — in case anything were to happen,” said Amanda Jacinto with the Peoria Police Department.
Jacinto said the school is releasing students to parents.
The lockdown was lifted about 5:15 p.m.
There was no word on the condition of the subject in the residence.
