Scottsdale has checked in at No. 4 on the Bloomberg list of the nation’s most fun and affordable places, despite being one of the Valley’s most affluent cities.
Scottsdale Chamber of Commerce President Rick Kidder said he will put his city up against San Francisco or New York any day when it comes to affording a new home or starting a business, as more people are doing.
“It’s a matter of perspective,” he said. “In the Valley, we are probably are one of the more expensive cities. If you look at it from a national perspective, we’re pretty much a bargain.”
While Scottsdale residents do tend to be a bit older, Kidder said the younger crowd is pumping money into Old Town.
“An area that, six to seven years ago, was practically flatlining,” he said.
