1 dead in Phoenix car crash

A fatal overnight collision has closed the intersection at 51st Avenue and Indian School Road.

At least person died in the accident, which occurred around midnight Monday.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Trent Crump said a pickup truck sideswiped a Mustang, killing the car’s driver, a 32-year-old man. The driver of the truck could face murder charges, said police.

Witnesses told police the pickup truck driver was speeding and ran a red light. Preliminary indications are that driver was over the blood-alcohol content limit.

Authorities said the pickup driver and three passengers were taken to a local hospital and are expected to recover.
