Peoria police were able to arrest an alleged bank robber after the suspect dropped a pair of sunglasses with a single fingerprint on them.
The suspect, named as 34-year-old Joseph Henderson, allegedly robbed the Chase location near 91st Ave and Northern on Aug. 2. By the time police arrived, Henderson had jumped a wall into a nearby neighborhood.
Police found a pair of sunglasses on the ground that may have been Henderson’s and, thanks to a quick response by police, the sunglasses — and the lone, fragile fingerprint on those glasses — were given to technicians in time to extract the print.
The print matched that of Henderson. Police contacted him at his home, where he admitted to the robbery. A search warrant also turned up the stolen funds.
