PHOENIX — The sister of a Valley man who was killed by a hit-and-run driver is pleading for that person to step forward.
Phoenix Police said it has no information that can help find the driver who struck down Jeffrey Schmaltz at 41st Street and Bell in north Phoenix on Aug. 2 around 1:30 a.m.
The victim’s sister, Cherie Bradberry, said it has been tough to explain to her brother’s 4-year-old daughter that dad is never coming home.
“She cries almost every day and she walks around with his picture in a frame,” Bradberry said of her niece. Her brother left behind another child.
Bradberry is suffering just as much. “They took a part of my life that can never be replaced.”
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Phoenix Police or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
“I don’t know how anybody could do something like this and keep going. I wish they would have pulled over and called and we wouldn’t be sitting here today,” Bradberry said.
