Scottsdale Healthcare is one of five hospitals that are sharing a $200 million initiative to train advance practice nurses.
Keith Jones with Scottsdale Healthcare said 400 nurses in the Valley will gain new skills.
“The program will be training advanced practice registered nurses to get clinical skills needed to provide primary care, preventative care, transitional care and chronic care management,” he said.
Jones said the additional nurses will improve access to primary care, which helps keep many more people healthy.
Arizona State University, the University of Arizona and Grand Canyon University will all help in the training process.
The $200 million is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
